Caring Economies: A Case of Women Gender Equality in European Union

Abstract
In economies that have the attribute "caring" that nation´s quality of life (and economic success) is predicted by the status of women. In the caring economies women and men participate equally in the formal labor force and have the same opportunities. The issue of gender equality is closely related to achieve greater women involvement in the workforce whose analysis this paper addresses. In relation to gender equality, the gender segregation and a gender pay gap will be further analysed. This article aims to describe the state of equality between men and women on the EU labour market focusing on decision-making positions. In this paper the method of description both theoretical approaches and the development of gender equality issues in the European Union is used, the method of analysis of past and current situation together with the comparison method of problems in individual member countries focusing on the Czech Republic are applied as well.
